BASIC CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION TO BACHELOR'S DEGREE PROGRAMS

The basic condition for admission to a bachelor's degree or to study a study program according to § 56 par. 1 of Act no. 131/2002 Coll. on higher education institutions is the acquisition of complete secondary education or complete secondary professional education.

Electronic application form and mandatory attachments

  • the applicant is obliged to SAVE the created electronic application (the status of the application "registered" is not sufficient),
  • the applicant only uploads a CV and a confirmation of payment of the admission fee as an attachment to the electronic application form,
  • applicants who graduate in the academic year 2025 enter their grades for the 1st to 3rd year (regardless of the number of years of study) via the electronic student book, an officially certified copy of the graduation certificate must be delivered to the study department by post as soon as it has been received,
  • applicants who have graduated before 2025 shall deliver by post to the studies department certified copies of their report cards for years 1 to 3 (regardless of the number of years of study) and a certified copy of their school leaving certificate by 30 April 2025 at the latest.

Documenting education obtained outside the Slovak Republic

The applicant is obliged to submit a decision on the recognition of a document of education obtained outside the territory of the Slovak Republic, which is issued by the Regional Office of the Slovak Education Administration at the school's headquarters or at the applicant's place of residence, no later than the day of registration, in accordance with Act no. 422/2015 Coll. on the recognition of educational documents and on the recognition of professional qualifications and on the amendment of certain laws as amended. The applicant will also submit an officially certified translation of the transcript of grades (report cards) from secondary school for the 1st to 3rd year (regardless of the number of years of study). This obligation does not apply to applicants who have completed their education in the Czech Republic.

Basic admission requirements for international applicants

The admission conditions for foreign applicants are the same as for students from the Slovak Republic, a good knowledge of the Slovak language is required, which the applicant proves by a certificate of the final school leaving examination in the Slovak language or a university diploma issued by a Slovak university. Applicants who have not passed the matriculation examination in the Slovak language, or who have not completed higher education in a study program offered in the Slovak language, are obliged to send by post a certificate of proficiency in the Slovak language at least at B1 level by 30 April 2025 at the latest. This obligation does not apply to applicants with citizenship of the Czech Republic.

BASIC CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION TO MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAMS

The basic condition for admission to the second-degree study program according to § 56 par. 3 Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on higher education institutions is a first-level university education or a second-level university education, while the sum of the number of credits obtained for the previous university studies, which led to the university education, and the number of credits required for the proper completion of the second-level study program for which the applicant is applying must be at least 300 credits.

Electronic application form and mandatory attachments

  • the applicant is obliged to SAVE the created electronic application (the status of the application "registered" is not sufficient),
  • only the curriculum vitae and the receipt for the admission fee must be uploaded as an attachment to the online application form,
  • a certified copy of the diploma and a transcript of grades for the entire course of study (including the subjects of the state examination) must be delivered by post to the study department no later than 30 April 2025; applicants completing their studies after 30 April 2025 will deliver these documents as soon as they are received,
  • applicants who are graduates of the UCM Faculty of Arts do not submit either a copy of the diploma or a transcript of grades for their studies.

Documenting education obtained outside the Slovak Republic

The applicant is obliged to submit, no later than on the day of enrolment, a decision on the recognition of a document of education obtained outside the territory of the Slovak Republic, which will be recognized by a higher education institution that carries out study programs in the same fields of study or related fields of study as those listed on the document of education, or by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, if there is no such higher education institution in the Slovak Republic. This obligation does not apply to applicants who have completed their education in the Czech Republic.

Basic admission requirements for international applicants

The admission conditions for foreign applicants are the same as for students from the Slovak Republic, a good knowledge of the Slovak language is required, which the applicant proves by a certificate of the final school leaving examination in the Slovak language or a university diploma issued by a Slovak university. Applicants who have not passed the matriculation examination in the Slovak language, or who have not completed higher education in a study program offered in the Slovak language, are obliged to send by post a certificate of proficiency in the Slovak language at least at B1 level by 30 April 2025 at the latest. This obligation does not apply to applicants with citizenship of the Czech Republic.

Further admission requirements for bachelor’s and master’s degree programs

  1. For the bachelor’s degree program in Psychology (Bc.), only the results of the entrance exam will be considered; the results of previous studies will not be taken into account.

    The entrance exam for the bachelor’s degree program in Psychology (Bc.) consists of a test of academic aptitude (psychological test) and a knowledge test. The applicant can obtain a total of 120 points for both tests. The knowledge test consists of the following subjects: psychology, philosophy, and human biology.

  2. For the master’s degree program in Psychology (Mgr.), only the results of the entrance exam will be considered; the results of previous studies will not be taken into account.

    The entrance exam for the master’s degree program in Psychology (Mgr.) consists of a test of study prerequisites (psychological test) and a knowledge test. The applicant can obtain a total of 120 points for both tests. The knowledge test consists of the following subjects: general psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, personality psychology, methodology, and statistics.

  3. Applicants will be admitted to all bachelor’s and master’s degree programs (except for the Psychology degree program) without an entrance exam.
  4. If the number of applicants exceeds the expected number of applicants admitted to a given study program, the faculty will select applicants
    1. in the case of bachelor’s degree programs, according to the study results from secondary school. The average calculated based on the end-of-year report card grades for the 1st to 3rd year of study shall be considered.
    2. for master's degree programs, according to the results of previous studies. The weighted average of the courses taken in the 1st and 2nd year of study shall be considered.
  5. An applicant who fails to submit the documents referred to in point 3 on the last day for receipt of applications will not meet the conditions for admission to the course.
  6. The management of the faculty may decide to announce another round of the admission procedure for individual study programs of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degrees of study in which the expected number of admitted applicants has not been met.
  7. In case of a small number of applicants for a study program, the faculty management reserves the right to postpone the student's application to the next round of admissions. If the faculty management does not open a given study program due to a small number of applicants, it reserves the right to offer applicants to study in a related study program.
  8. The prerequisite for studies in the following study programs of the bachelor’s degree is the mastery of the respective language at least at B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: German language and culture in professional communication, English language and culture in professional communication, English language and literature teaching, German language and literature teaching, Russian language and literature teaching.
  9. For foreign applicants without a matriculation examination in the Slovak language, or without a university degree in a study program offered in the Slovak language, the condition for admission is the submission of a certificate of proficiency in the Slovak language at the B1 level by 30 April 2025 at the latest. This obligation does not apply to applicants with citizenship of the Czech Republic.

CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION TO DOCTORAL DEGREE PROGRAMS

The basic prerequisite for admission to doctoral studies is a second-level university degree.

Electronic application form and mandatory attachments

  • candidates apply for the dissertation topics, which are published on the faculty's website,
  • the candidate is obliged to SAVE the created electronic application (the status of the application "registered" is not sufficient),
  • the following attachments shall be uploaded to the attachment of the electronic application:
    • Confirmation of payment of the admission fee (compulsory attachment),
    • Curriculum vitae (compulsory attachment),
    • a framework project on the topic of the dissertation under the faculty guidelines (compulsory attachment),
    • a summary of professional and scientific activities (optional annex),
    • a list of published scientific papers (optional annex).
  • certified copies of the diploma and the state examination certificate must be delivered by post to the study department as soon as they are received,
  • applicants who are graduates of the UCM are not required to send certified copies of their university diploma or state examination certificate.

Admission interview

The admission procedure is a selection procedure in the form of an interview, where the applicant presents his/her motives, prerequisites for studies, dissertation project as well as knowledge of a foreign language. In the selection procedure, preference will be given to graduates who have participated in student scientific, professional, and artistic activities. A candidate becomes a doctoral student after successful completion of the selection procedure and after enrolment in the doctoral program based on the admission decree of the Dean of the Faculty.

Documentation of education obtained outside the Slovak Republic

The applicant is obliged to submit, no later than on the day of enrolment, a decision on the recognition of a document of education obtained outside the territory of the Slovak Republic, which will be recognized by a higher education institution that carries out study program in the same fields of study or related fields of study as those listed on the document of education, or by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, if there is no such higher education institution in the Slovak Republic.

GENERAL INFORMATION ON THE ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Applicants may apply to study more than one study program, but only one study program must be indicated on a single application form. The fee shall be paid by the applicant for each application separately to the faculty's account number by bank transfer.

Tuition fees in part-time study programs:

First-degree study programs (three-year study programs):      €   750
Second-degree study programs (two-year study programs):   €    900
Third-degree study programs (four-year study programs):      € 1 400
Third-degree study programs (five-year study programs):       € 1 200

Annual tuition fees for a study program conducted exclusively in a language other than the national language (obligation to pay tuition fees will only arise if a public higher education institution in the academic year in which the student started the student was enrolled in the same field of study and degree in a study program which is also conducted in the national language): € 1 000

Annual tuition fee of a program of study conducted exclusively in a language other than the official language for a student who is not is neither a citizen of a Member State nor a permanent resident of a Member State: €2 500
