Instructions for Authors
Characteristics : An International journal provides a forum for papers and discussions concerning methodological and theoretical problems of language and text and empirical characterisation of language and text in qualitative or quantitative form:
observations and descriptions of all aspects of language and text phenomena including the areas of psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, dialectology, pragmatics, etc. on all levels of linguistic analysis,
applications of methods, models or findings from quantitative linguistics concerning problems of natural language processing, language teaching, documentation and information retrieval,
methodological problems of linguistic measurement, model construction, sampling and test theory,
epistemological issues such as explanation of language and text phenomena, contributions to theory construction, systems theory, philosophy of science.
Glottotheory will appear twice a year. The deadlines are June 30 and December 30. It will have several domains: articles, reports, book review and surveys. Their form is described in the instructions.
The editors have a right to return a contribution reviewed by the members of the editorial board to the author for revision. The authors have two weeks for corrections. The contributions will be reviewed by at least two members of the editorial board in written form.
Manuscript Submission . Submitted articles must be original and written in English or German. Manuscripts should meet high academic standards and contributors should remember the articles are written for international audience. One electronic copy written preferably in WORD (98 or higher) should be sent to the editor of the Glottotheory - Emília Nemcová , University of Saints Cyril and Methodius, Faculty of Arts, Trnava, Slovakia - by e-mail( emilia.nemcova@ucm.sk ).
Manuscript Format . Page 1 of the manuscript should include the title of the article ( WORD - font size 14, bold ),the author's names with affiliation, an abbreviated version of the title of no more than 40 characters (including spaces) for running heads ( in italics - font size 12 ),an abstract in italics ( max.10 lines ) briefly summarizing the essential contents, the full address of the corresponding author in a footnote: phone, fax, postal address, e-mail address. The manuscript should have max. 20 pages, format A4 (30x60), typed double spaced and each page should be numbered. All the words in titles and subtitles should have capital letters except prepositions and articles.
Illustrations, Figures, Tables . Please submit all illustrations, figures and tables in digital format. Tables (including headings and notes), figures and figure legends must be presented directly in the text. All figures must be colourless.
References ( for papers and reports ). References should be listed in alphabetical order. Follow the examples, please:

Report Format . Page 1 of the report should include the title of the report ( WORD - font size 14, bold ), the author's name with address and e-mail address. A list of key words and abstracts are not required. A text of a report should be structured in paragraphs, max. 5 pages A4 (30x60). Writing References follow the instructions for papers, please.
Copyright and Permissions
All accepted papers must be accompanied by a copyright release form. If any illustrations, figures, tables or more than 100 words of text previously published are included in a manuscript, the author is responsible for obtaining permission for republication from the copyright holder.
